| Outlook
Express News Reader Upgrade Instructions |
Important!
| These instructions only apply to those
previously using Outlook Express News Reader to access the OPSoftware
Newsgroups. If you are setting up new access to the newsgroups, then see
the Outlook Express Setup Instructions.
| If you are currently using Outlook
Express to read the newsgroups, you will need to make the following
changes to access the new newsgroup:
| These changes should not be made until
Monday December 15th!
| The easiest transition is to delete
the existing OPSoftware Newsgroup from Outlook Express, and then add the
new Newsgroup. Other methods may work, but again this will be the easiest.
Current content will not be lost by deleting the existing newsgroup. Once
you re-establish your account on the new server, current content can then
be downloaded.
- Open Outlook Express News Reader and locate the existing OPSoftware
Newsgroup.
- Right-click on the Newsgroup Server and choose "Remove
Account" from the pop-up menu.
| After removing the existing OPSoftware
Newsgroup, you will need to add the new server:
- Click on "Tools" and then "Accounts".
- Make sure you are on the "News" tab and are adding a new
"News" account.
- Click on the "Add" Button and select "News".
- The "Internet Connection Wizard" appears:
| Enter your email address.
| Important! This email address must be the
same as your registered email address!
| Click Next to continue
| Enter opsoftware.com as the NNTP server.
| Important! You must check the "My
news server requires me to log on" if you want to POST!
| Click Next to continue.
| Enter the account ID and password
provided when you signed up to access the Newsgroup.
| If you signed up, but lost your account ID
or password:
| Visit www.gopd.com
and choose the "Dealer Administration" link. Enter your email
address in the provided box and your account ID and password will be
emailed.
| VERY IMPORTANT! You must include the
PROPNET\ BEFORE your account ID!
| Again, be sure to include PROPNET\
(back-slash) BEFORE your account number as in the example above.
| Enter your password and then click next
to continue.
| Click the Finish Button to complete the
wizard.
| Once you create the new Server, you can
then select the newsgroups to join.
| From the Newsgroup screen, be sure to
click the "Also search descriptions" box to see the descriptions
of all available newsgroups.
| Select the newsgroups you want to join
by double-clicking them, or by clicking the Subscribe button.
| Note that ALL newsgroups will be
displayed including private groups you may not be registered for. If
you select a private group you are not registered for, you will not be
able to read or post to that group.
| Once you have selected your newsgroups,
be sure to also select the actions to perform on each group. Click on the
OPSoftware server to display the action settings:
| If you do not check EACH newsgroup you
selected, then no messages will be downloaded!
| VERY IMPORTANT FINAL STEPS!
| The new newsgroup requires that you
enter your organization name! This information is not requested as part of
the Wizard, so you must enter it manually.
| Right-click on the opsoftware.com server
entry and choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu. The
properties window appears:
| Make sure you enter your
"Organization" name in the provided box. Click on the Advanced
Tab:
| Make sure that the "Ignore news
sending format and post using:" is checked and that the HTML option
is selected.
| Be sure to save your settings by
clicking the OK Button.
| Outlook Express News Reader should now
be set up to read and post to the new newsgroups.
